Avant que le film ne sortent le studio Miramax/Dimension films s'est amusé à coupé le film à droite, à gauche. La version Workprint propose par rapport à la version finale un paquet de scènes en plus :
-An alternate Ashe/Spider-Monkey confrontation: Ashe takes Spider-Monkey's pistol and says: 'Don't try this at home, kids.' and then shoots himself in the head with it to show his invincibility. Ashe collapses to the ground. But of course Ashe is unfazed by this and is faking. As soon as Spider-Monkey looks down at him, Ashe pops back up to his feet and scares Spider-Monkey.
-Two twins climb after Ashe on the tower & one of them falls off and gets decapitated.
-Ashe/Holly Daze confrontation scene.
-After Ashe's resurrection and Sarah takes him back to her loft and he wakes up; he doesn't want to believe that he is dead, so Sarah stabs him in the chest with a kitchen knife to prove it. Then Ashe with a look of horror and disbelief, he pulls the knife out of his chest. He then runs away like in the released versions.
-Alternate scene for Danny's painting: Ashe doesn't burn it as he does in the release versions; instead, it falls out of Ashe's coat pocket during the Ashe/Judah finale scene; Judah rips it up.
-Alternate ending; Ashe is cursed to walk the earth for eternity as a type of 'zombie'/'lost soul' because he is already dead and cannot die. This was his punishment for choosing Sarah over Danny (Ashe's son) in the finale (also deleted).
-Ashe burns Sarah's loft after she dies, to 'erase' his memories of her since he is cursed to walk the earth & will never see her again.
Kali and the Twins trashing Sarah's apartment and rip up her paintings.
Curve peeing his pants after he says "Do you think i'm afraid!?!..", because he Is afraid of Ashe. (during the Ashe confrontation after the motorcycle chase.)
-Curve's crotch on fire after the motorcycle explosion.
-Alternate dialogue for Ashe; Ashe was originally to speak in a very 'poetic' way, because he is resurrected by the Crow, and so he inherits a new personality.
-The Sarah voice-over at the beginning of the movie is much longer.
In the pay-per-view & workprint versions, Ashe's last name (Corven) is revealed as he runs back to his garage after his resurrection; the garage reads: "Corven's Body Shop".
-Bad guy back-stories (i.e., Judah tells about himself drowning and become the way that he is, Spidermonkey "stole" the imp logo from his grandmother's car an used/(copied) the logo for the bags of trinity (the drug in the movie), Kali is revealed to be a virgin, because she only 'gets pleasure from killing', and nothing else.)
-Kali is left by Ashe (after he throws her out of window) to be raped by thugs. She's still alive after the fall on the car, but her back is broken, and she is seen crawling along the ground. Dialogue between the two was also deleted. Kali begs Ashe to finish her off, but he refuses, and leaves her there to die and suffer slowly.
-Longer shootout scene when Ashe is going after Curve.
-Ashe/Sarah love scene.
-Alternate Ashe/Kali fight scene; Kali attacks Ashe with a 2x4, and a sword, when Kali tries to slice Ashe with her sword, Ashe dodges and breaks Kali's arm. Ashe was also 'psychotic' in this scene; especially as he recites the 'Shh...hush little baby..' dialogue. The scene on the release versions is from a reshoot my Miramax/Dimension films.
-Crow-morph scene (Shadow on a wall; Ashe changes from a crow then reverts back to human form (this is during the Ashe/Kali scene, after she's thrown out of the window). This reveals that Ashe and the crow are part of one another.
-Ashe's resurrection takes alot longer; the crow 'pulls'/'lifts' Ashe's soul out of the water, thus, Ashe comes back to life; the crow & Ashe are 1 in the same.
-Longer Ashe/Curve chase scene; after Ashe skids to a stop on his motorcycle, Ashe is shown looking back, looking for a way up to the upper streets to further pursue Curve. A small clip of this can be seen in the music video 'Jurassitol' by Filter. However, Miramax also even cut up this music video upon release; this footage is deleted from the music video on the VHS/DVD release. The uncut music video can only be seen on TV broadcasts, such as the Mtvx channel, and is about 30 seconds longer.
-The ending you see on the release version of where Ashe and Danny are walking through the water was originally a flashback sequence early in the movie; this is not the true original ending of the film.
-Ashe/Preist dialogue: after Sarah dies, Ashe goes back to the church. The priest says something like: 'What will you do now, my son? Ashe replies (since he is cursed to walk the earth for eternity) 'There are already many shadows in this city.. one more won't make a difference.'
Ashe/thugs confrontation outside of the church. Ashe tells one of them that if he (the thug) has a gun he should shoot him. The thug hesitates, and Ashe takes his gun, the thug runs away.
-After Ashe sees Danny (during the finale), he chases after him, whirls him around and takes his mask off; this ends up being a drunk midget.
Longer Ashe/Judah confronation/dialogue
-2 more deleted characters from the day of the dead festival scene, 'Amede' is one of them. (imdb)
